In other news, @Moon's server migration has a peculiar side effect. You cannot fetch any posts from there whether you have signed fetches enabled or not. All posts you can see on other instances are those that were sent directly to their inboxes. He has essentially turned his whole userbase into permanent lockfags, and knowing him, I won't be surprised if that was his plan all along.

@mint @pernia @sneeden This is absolutely NOT intentional I don't know why you are seeing what you are seeing. This is a completely standard development branch Pleroma install. Please stop accusing me of shit. Every time in the past I've done something you've disliked I didn't hide it. The only policy difference between this server and the previous one is that I added recripocal rejects for servers that reject us, but that should not in any way affect your ability to get posts from us.

@wakarimasen there are two possibilities here. I believe there's a way to say you migrated to another account on a different server, I have seen people do it on SPC when they leave. But SPC is falling apart so who knows if it will work.

I am going to be doing a manual intervention to restore follows and followings but this will require writing a brand new program so it is not happening instantly. but I will be writing it within a week.

This latest video of Wayland from @BrodieOnLinux is one of the most elitist and bad faith video I saw of him when trying to defend wayland.

Here's a few points.

  • This is pedantic and in a bad faith too but if all minorities(this includes disabled people too) are equal, 1% affected shouldn't be considered second class citizen because "nah, it's only 0.1% of people will need this feature". If minority matters, this is something that should never be used as an argument.

  • On the 1% of userbase not being "important". Dude, Linux is that "1%", before Valve investing a lot on Linux, it wasn't even 1% on steam charts and even today it didn't go above 3%. By your logic Valve should never invested on it.

  • As someone who had to work/learned about accessibility it's something that it's a complex can of worms but the issue isn't that on windows or Mac isn't good out of the box.

The issue is that while windows/Mac/x11 provides API's or ways to deal with that, wayland doesn't and that's the problem. You can make a good/use good accessibility software but you CAN'T on wayland without going full root mode.

@quad @kumicota our corruption was due to a power failure from CPU overheating. the overheating is actually still not fixed, we just temporarily mitigated it by moving pleroma off the same machine as the db

@sjw @quad I had to write a program to iterate over every table and extract every row one by one, grab the ctid, and try to requery and then keep track of which ctids failed. then the program would copy over only the working rows to a second database. then I did individual pg_dumps of every table to see if they failed or succeeded. I am skipping some steps but this is mostly what I did. it took a long time but then I was able to do a successful pg_upgrade to 16, then a pg_repack and a full reindex and the site was back up for a while until we had different problems.

SPC rule update:

No fedposting that could be construed seriously or will get me a visit from the police. Err on the side of not posting it because I think the whole country is operating at heightened fear right now.

I'm sorry, I know what a joke is, and I know what protected speech is, but everyone's privacy is enhanced by not baiting the police.

Additionally:

"Reciprocal rejects may be put in place for servers that block us first"

This rule is temporary while I deal with the space issue. Basically if someone blocks us I don't want to store their shit on my server. This may change when I get performance and space issues under control.
