The best thing about covid is being able to walk into a bank wearing a balaclava and not get shot in the face. Mind you if you didn't wear a mask, that's a possibility.

How well do you think an n95 mask would stop a fart?

But hey, that's why there're safe and effective (never before tested, experimental, totally not gene therapy, fingers crossed, honest) vaccines. Not so long ago it was GMO food we had to worry about. Now half the people I know are GMOs, and so is the entire hospital blood supply. Anyway, that's not nearly as important as whether I prefer the pronoun you're using, you bigot nazi fascist who wants to take away our ability to take away your ability to speak to whoever or about whatever we dislike du jour. Nya!

Why is it called conspiracy "theory"? Isn't a theory a hypothesis which has been thoroughly tested and has withstood every effort to debunk it? Hmmm...

The way society is going in a generation or two from now young adults will be looking forward to getting their first cockroach infested apartment, not just to get away from oppressive parents, but because it has it's own built-in food supply.

toiletpaper,

an almost 30 minute video to say "you're retarded", is totally not retarded...

toiletpaper,

That's true of almost every one of these commentary style videos. Not just this dude's. I stopped watching most stuff like that ages ago, because I don't have that much time to waste sitting around for hours waiting for them to get to the fucking point which they could have stated unambiguously in under a minute. But understandably, if they did get to the point quicker, or understood Betteridge's law of headlines, then they wouldn't have much of a career as a YT personality, nor any revenue to speak of.

  • toiletpaper,

    hey! I resemble that remark!

seriously though, in the west we have more pro-ukraine propaganda and misinformation than pro-russian. so it makes more sense to focus on debunking the former moreso than the latter, even when both sides are demonstrably spreading a load of utter bs.

    toiletpaper,

don't both sides do that? it's why russia is constantly arresting astro-turf progressives operating inside their own territory. nothing new about that. personally I don't need agents of a foreign government to tell me the government here is toxic. that's just common sense.

I love how libs and radlibs will be like "but WHAT IF fascism happens in the US" while it's basically an unspoken fact that the CIA assassinates (actual ones who expose the fucked up shit the govt is doing) journalists and whistleblowers. idk how to tell you this my guy but the US has been a fascist state for decades

    toiletpaper,

Depends what the definition of fascism is. If deriving the term from the use of the fasces symbol, then notably it's been a central symbol of Indigenous American peoples long before contact. An example would be the Haudenosaunee (see url below) who lay claim to the symbol as far back as 1,000 years ago (ie. the founding of their confederacy).

If you're referring to the merger of state and corporation, that stemmed mainly from the advent of "neoliberalism" (mislabelled as capitalism) which was an attempt to weaken laissez-faire capitalism to make it more amenable (or less offensive) to American communist sympathisers by effectively merging state and corporation (eg. regulatory capture).

If you just mean xenophobia and violent racism, then I'm afraid that's far more widespread. In truth it was primarily American libertarians of the 19th and 20th centuries who were responsible for anti-slavery and women's liberation, which they then exported to Europe and the rest of the world (notwithstanding Asia, Africa, etc, where slavery is still legal in many places). So again, no.

Thing is, most people have no clue what "fascism" even means. It's just a slur they use against anyone they don't understand or agree with.

I wish I could understand the impact gamergate had on men lmao

    toiletpaper,

    I'm not a gamer.

But I was rubbernecking this nonsense from the start, and it was obvious right from day one that was a way for corrupt corporate shills to deflect from their own corruption by trying to shift the blame to someone/everyone else. Part of the reason I caught on so quick was that I'd seen the exact same pattern over and over again previously in the left-wing activist milieu (eg. Occupy movement).

My assessment now is that most of the folks involved in proclaiming the "gamers are racist/sexist/bigots" narrative, had/have all the classic signs of narcissistic personality disorder. Their ability to organise a lynch mob under false pretences has discredited everything they stand for in my eyes. Even when I agree with them, I won't make common cause with these people for that reason.

SPC needs more women. We have women but we need more.

    toiletpaper,

I keep getting emails about single ukranian women in my area. if you want I could forward them to you...
otherwise I'm gonna turn off emails to that domain entirely and whitelist the tiny handful of addresses I actually use on purpose.

Criticizing capitalism while participating in it is not hypocritical because our individual actions within the capitalist system are a means of survival within the existing system, not an endorsement of it. Advocating for systemic change doesn't negate the need to navigate the current structure for basic needs, considering it coercively shapes people's lives.

    toiletpaper,

like democracy, property rights require an inviolate basis in human rights, which comes down to cultural values. for example, gang rape is democratic (the victim's vote was outnumbered). so if there isn't a conception of inviolate human rights which supersede democracy, or property, then it will not help matters one iota. $0.02
