We had a mystery shitter. He'd do shit like this in the shop bathroom every fucking morning. This was before security cameras were cheap. We never did catch him.
They gotta be careful depending on the type of security. If I were youtube, I'd try to walk servers into some sort of cfaa violation (hacking via bypassing security measures). I'm not saying that's what they're doing, but I'd look very carefully at whatever they changed and the method for end running it.
And I'm very serious about the cfaa violations. If they're simply blocking ips, changing your ip or spoofing could be a federal crime. Black listing an ip is considered a security measure.
I'm just saying that anytime your "scraping data" you need to keep the cfaa in mind. It's also civilly actionable, so walking parties into "lawfare" cases to win on costs, not merit, should be expected behavior for large corps.
Youtube is old tech. It's dying. From this point on, it only stays relevant through anticompetitive behavior. It will start shitting on people to deter other.
When we were kids swimming at my aunt's my brother asked to go inside to use the bathroom. My uncle said to just go behind the pool. An hour later my aunt shrieks.
