I just found an amazing game through my friend. Absolutely adorable, it’s a Touhou roguelike. Each run is around 30 mins.

Great music, cute art style, really challenging bullet hell gameplay. Some of these fights hurt my brain haha.

4 difficulties, I just beat a run to end the night with my friend on Hard (3rd diff). 4th difficulty, Lunar, reduces max HP and adds new moves to every enemy. The difficulty curving is legit.

It even has co-op. Highly recommend. Here are some of the cuties you get to play as, and so many more are unlockable.

Finished the Titanfall 2 campaign, feels like it ended too early, but maybe that's just because I wanted more. Now stuck looking through all my games to find something to scratch the "FPS campaign" itch and realizing I've got like half a dozen games that I've already played to death that fit. :mokou_lying:

About the only thing I have that I haven't beaten several times over is Armored Core 6, but I got filtered hard by Balteus and I'm not feeling like bashing my head against that particular wall right now.

@Iffine I agree with you. I WANT to see new things come out to advance the industry and the art form. However, in the mean time, the industry has been subverted and became overwhelmingly safe. The prevalent mindset of retreating to older things is there because all the new stuff... SUCKS. I agree with you, Splatoon was so interesting because it was incredibly unique and it worked so well with the concept of the inklings. I want to see more of that, but... for now, as we build a new industry while the old one collapses, I'll be happy with older games and slow but gradual iteration upon technologies and ideas before we get a new golden era of innovation and uniqueness.

I can't believe I binged the entirety of the Dungeon Meshi manga last night until 3am. It was really an excellent read. I remember when I read it long ago it was nowhere near completion, but seeing the animation come out made me want to check in on it. Sure enough it is complete, and... yeah I'm very happy with it.

A human story as old as time. Desires to do good, but ultimately create evil. All wrapped up in a metaphor about... food (and consumption). I also like that Dungeon Meshi understands that nature is a cycle of energy transfer/consumption, not necessarily evil or good, but it just is. In a way it's like how hunters respect nature the most.

There's also this theme of accepting death, which was something I was personally dealing with. I ended up incorporating that idea into my game's story. Like I said, it's a very good human story.

The media literacy crowd apparently can't find a single game that is "right wing" and it's kind of hilarious. Aren't these the same folks who were complaining about the military industrial complex funding call of duty so that it could be used as a recruiting platform for the US military? Did they think that was a left wing action by the developers?

Not to mention the at least hundreds, if not, thousands of titles made by folks who would be considered right wing or have right wing leanings.

@Spingebill Reminds me. I don't know which mod was adding it, but during one of my modpack playthroughs, a bee with not-Bee-colored-stripes appeared and I was so confused. I thought it was funny colored pajamas at first, but it turns out it was one of the mental illness flags (it was like green and grey, no idea what that one is and I don't care to look it up).

Funnily, it conflicted with Productive Bees' bee cage (used to transport bees a lot more conveniently), and when I picked it back up and put it down, it spawned a proper vanilla Bee in its place. How the hell did these cretins come to the conclusion that the bee is trans? If anything, the animals in Minecraft are hermaphrodites. I'm pretty sure Notch realized managing two sexes of animals would be a huge PITA so he prioritized gameplay over logic and just made hen-roosters and cow-bulls lol

Honestly, I think in some way Celeste was always meant to be trans because I could never figure out what Badeline was supposed to be, and that's because at the time when I did play Celeste, I was totally ignorant to trannies. After Farewell came out it made a lot more sense when I learned about this whole thing years after playing it.

Idk, Celeste is a lightning in a bottle moment because outside of that game there isn't any other competent, culturally significant title. The one retcon I DO recall however is Hat Girl from Hat in Time.

    @Tamamo Sony PlayStation, too. I think there are a ton of factors contributing to how safe and censorious JP devs choose to be, but yeah, they definitely killed their own creativity. Japan is lagging behind now as their corporate culture self-immolates, yet they're all too stubborn to change and adapt. Or at least, they're adapting incorrectly, like as they eat up the poison that comes from Commiefornia and ESG. Meanwhile Korea and China start to take more of the metaphorical pie, even in manga. In terms of PNG collectors, Japan's is not as risque as Azur Lane and Last Origin due to all the censorship happiness.

    A shame, but... this is the opportunity for some Japanese devs to strike out AGAINST the grain of their own country and win it big and put Japan back on the market... if they have the balls to. Otherwise, I think eventually Korea and China will take over the eastern entertainment market.

    So I learned that the Palword devs, Pocketpair Inc, are JP. Man look at that, they got tricked into adding Body Type A/B into the game :kekw:

    Now, it's funny, because the gun additions are also justified with "Americans are doing this thing." But unlike Body Type A/B, it was a lucky choice, because it made the game absurd and hilarious for the better. Their market presence is amplified due to it. A thing done right, for the wrong reason.
