Is it a fun nosleep like just jamming out on a cool project, or a nofun nosleep?

I've got the cofe pot going RN, we'll have the ol' Scotty A simultaneous sip this morning 🤓☕️

🤔 haven't heard anything from Adams in a while, now that I think about it. Did he find out he wasn't cancel-proof after all after that "move away from black people" thing?

I signed up for a substack once years ago, and then after poking around all over the website I finally sent their helpsesk a message "why the incessant email spam, where's the RSS fees?"

They were like "we.... dont have those."

Last time I ever touched substack. Good to know it's a thing now.

Think of the post office, or amtrak, or the NY subway, or public schools. They provide shit service at outrageous cost, and with all of that they aren't even profitable counting the public teet as "revenue". And they don't need to be because their customers aren't the people relying on their services, their "customers" are nameless bureaucrats spending other peoples' money.

Companies aren't inherently good, it's just that in a free market the bad ones are allowed to die.

In the US the government has to keep swooping in with hundreds of billions (cumulatively into the several trillions) of dollars in bailouts to protect the banker caste from capitalism. It seems odd and perverse to lay that outcome at the feet of capitalism.

The US is fascism wearing a free enterprise skinsuit.

The booze was qualitatively different back then. Gin was basically an apothecary in a bottle instead of cheap grain alcohol with some dye and chemical flavorings.

He was always a Cato-esque, "corporate tax rates should be 3% lower, but let's not do anything 'radical' that might actually reduce the size and scope of the state!" kind of libertarian, but he went off the deep end over covid.

It is so much worse:

There's a special federal court for all vax injury cases. Rules of evidence are unique, skewed against plaintiffs and you have to be pre-approved to bring a case. If one vax causes too many payouts, they change the rules to no longer approve those cases because it would deplete their payout fund. Oh right, because even if you win in kangaroo vax court, it's the tax payers who pick up the tab, not one dime from corpos.

"Patent-free" doesn't help much when the hoops to bring "free" drug to market averages over 1bn.

Fediblob Bio-Tech Startup, Inc. never gets to shot 1 in arm 1 at that rate.

And while Uncle Sam is backing up dumptrucks of cash to pharma corpos, where did their billions in regulatory fees go? Or right, to writing infinite new red-tape on Fediblob Bio-Tech Startup, Inc. We never get our foot in the door without a Hunter equivalant on our Board of Directors.

well, well. we made it friends. through thick and thin and against a lot of people's wishes Poast is officially 3 years old.

what started out as a shitty mastodon server we somehow managed to convince 2000 people from twitter to join in the span of only a few hours on January 13, 2021 to over 30,000 strong today.

in three short years we managed to best every single challenge and hurdle thrown at us from brainlet dramanigger accusations to 0day exploits, news hit pieces and financial struggles we made it through all of it.

we are thankful that you have all stuck around despite everything, growing pains and all and we look forward to many more years here with you.

🎂🎈 god bless you poast and thank you for everything 🎈🎉

i question whether your judiciary should be able to review laws about the judiciary being restricted.

that kind of sounds like they are declaring themselves dictators. since, well, they are basically doing that.

incognitum,
@incognitum@liberdon.com avatar

@icedquinn
The doctrine of "judicial review" was made out of whole cloth. John Marshall, appointed by his friend and political ally Adams just made that power up to thwart Jefferson after he pulled the presidency out from under Adams.

Now instead of a neutral court to hear cases of original jurisdiction dispassionately, we have a 9-seat super-senate with lifetime tenure that gets to decide what the real laws are after our elected reps finish playing at legislating 🤦‍♀️
