  3. The people I know hyping the site up have also gone inactive, except for the most vocal anti-Musk people (who couldn't make it on Mastodong because of the fact furry instances all suck ass).
  4. No DMS or federation in 2024 yet

@koimoa @PurpCat Because the migrations are politically motivated, not feature-motivated. Everyone likes Big Platform, but certain people don't like the culture or get censored. Alternative A opens its doors, and the first people motivated to go there are those people, who instantly turn their sub-culture into the main site culture simply by being the first large numbers. People jumped to Bsky because they didn't like Elon Musk's politics, not because it had a better UI or feature set.

If there's a cultural resurgence that actually results in a lot of talented people making a lot of movies and not talented people being thrown aside, even if its astroturfed, I'd be pretty happy. @mint I've noticed a repeating pattern in the github threads for these features (the current one is a flag allowing/disallowing quoting statuses), and it's basically "oh we know this can't be enforced, but once the feature's added to every software suite, we can seek out and punish instances that make the decision to bypass it"

and we're right back where we started with, anybody worth hiding something from isn't going to make a huge spectacle that they've gotten it anyway, they're just going to keep quiet and let you think you're a big winner

@cho l'eunuchs kinda does. DBus and freedesktop shit does not. L'Eunuchs can grant or deny access to various resources based on your user and what not. The problem is, once you get access to dbus bus, all bets are off and you're a god. And since more and more programs use dbus for ipc, l'eunuchs security is compromised.
